Lawyer files case at SC against cop for obstructing duty

The Supreme Court granted leave to proceed with a case filed by a lawyer from the Bandarawela Bar against the acting OIC of the Welimada police, Ada Derana reporter said.


According to the lawyer, the acting OIC had obstructed and spoke abusively to him as he was representing his client at the Police Station.  


“Supreme Court granted leave to proceed under Article 11, 12 (1) & 14 (1)g today against acting OIC Welimada who obstructed and spoke abusively to a junior lawyer from the Bandarawela Bar representing his client at the Police Station,” Senior Counsel Saliya Peiris said in a post.


The case will be taken in to consideration again on October 26.
