GMOA to file legal action against Chathura Senaratne

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has been invited for an urgent discussion with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.
Issuing a statement, the Secretary of GMOA Dr Nalinda Herath stated that the discussion will take place at 9.00pm today (01).
The GMOA staged a token strike at government hospitals across the island yesterday against alleged irregularities which have taken place with regard to post-internship appointments.
Dr Herath stated that the GMOA strike was carried out successfully despite statements made by certain Health officials and trade unions that it was a failure.
Meanwhile the GMOA Secretary also said that a decision has been taken to instigate legal action against MP Chathura Senaratne, the son of Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne, for the “malicious” remarks made by him regarding the association and its members.
