Decision on extending term of LG bodies tomorrow

Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha says that the decision on extending the tenure of the Local Government bodies, which are set to end tomorrow (June 30), will be announced before midnight tomorrow.

A final decision will be reached on the matter after discussing with the President and Prime Minister as a unity government currently exists, he told Ada Derana in an interview. 

The minister said that the term of Local Government institutions are 4 years and that the power to extend that by another years is vested with the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government.
