The foreign ministry says that so far there have been no reports of any Sri Lankan nationals being affected by the terrorist attack on a holiday crowd in Nice, France.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Paris is continuing to remain in touch with local authorities there, according to the Spokesperson of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahishini Colonne.

“Attack in #Nice, #France: No reports so far of #SriLankans affected. SL Embassy in Paris is in touch with local authorities,” she wrote on Twitter.

An attacker killed at least 84 people by driving a truck at high speed into crowds watching Bastille Day fireworks in the French Riviera city of Nice late on Thursday.

French President Francoise Hollande said the attack was undeniably of a terrorist nature. The act was a “monstrous” one, he said in a televised national address, and the victims included “many children.”
