Anura Senanayake and Sumith Perera further remanded

Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake and former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita Police Station Sumith Perera, who were arrested in connection with the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, have been further remanded by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. 

They were ordered remanded till September 07 after being produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris when the case was taken up for hearing today (24). 

The former Narahenpita Crime OIC and the former Senior DIG were arrested for allegedly withholding evidence pertaining to the case.  Thajudeen, a Sri Lankan ruggerite and former Havelock SC captain, was killed in Colombo in May 2012.
