One dead, 10 injured after elephant attacks van

One person was killed and another 10 injured after a wild elephant attacked a van at Karuwalagaswewa on the Puttalam-Anuradhapura road in the wee hours of the morning.
The incident occurred at around 2.20am today (27) near the Mee Oya Bridge.
The wounded persons were rushed to the hospital following the attack, however one of them had succumbed to injuries on the way.
The deceased in 39-year-old resident of Point Pedro Road, Jaffna. The body has been placed at the Puttalam Hospital.
Two women are among the wounded passengers. They were reportedly traveling to the airport in order to leave for Canada.
