Gold seized from 2 Sri Lankan women at Cochin airport

The Customs air intelligence unit on Friday seized gold bars and jewellery, together weighing 832 gm and valued at 2.6 million Indian rupees, from two Sri Lankan women passengers at the Cochin International Airport in India.
The passengers had arrived by Sri Lankan Airlines Flight No. UL165. Officers of the air intelligence unit intercepted the passengers at the exit gate of the arrival hall.
The gold bars had been concealed in sandals kept in the baggage while the jewellery was on their person, The Hindu reported.
A team of officials led by Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Bangartale carried out the seizure. –Agencies
