Striking labour officers asked to report for duty

September 14, 2016   05:50 pm

The Commissioner General of Labour says that all labour officers of the department must report for duty at their respective district offices from tomorrow (September 15).

Issuing a statement today, Commissioner General Chandani Amaratunga stated that the rights of the working people are continuously being violated due to the strike launched by the Public Service Labour Officers’ Union.

In order to prevent this situation and as breaking optimistic agreements and continuing with the strike action is not justifiable, all labour officers of the labour department have been notified to report for duty tomorrow (15), it said.

The Public Service Labour Officers Union is engaged in a strike since September 07 based on several demands including a Service Constitution.
