Met Department issues strong winds warning for sea areas

The Department of Meteorology today requested naval and fishing communities to be vigilant as strong winds can be expected to continue in the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil (up to 60-70 kmph).

The Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology issued a strong winds warning for sea area, valid for the next 36 hours.  

The department also says that several spells of light showers will occur in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Western and Northern provincesand in the Galle and the Matara districts.

Thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces after 2.00 p.m.
