Pro-Tiger Canadian MP detained at BIA, to be deported

Pro-Tiger Canadian MP detained at BIA, to be deported

Staunch pro-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Canadian parliamentarian Bob Rae who arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 11.30 last night with a one-way ticket has been detained and is to be deported soon, say Immigration and Defence sources.

Bob Rae had hit out at Sri Lanka while speaking in the Canadian Parliament recently and accused the Sri Lankan government of carrying out genocide against the Tamils and killing of innocent civilians. Not stopping at that, he had demanded that Sri Lankashould be banned from the Commonwealth of Nationsas well.

With his well known pro Tiger stance and his possessing only a one way ticket raises serious doubts of his intentions in the island, say officials.

This is the best practical joke ever..lol. This guy came all the way from Canada and must have been traveling for like 24 hours on the plane. Then must have been relieved that he got out from the plane. Then must have spent like 7-10 hours in immigration for clarifying and stuff only to be sent back for another 24 hour flight back to Canada...lol. He be fuming rite now...hahaha. I thank Hon President Mahinda Rajapaksha for taking straight decisions like these against these white tigers who talk and conspire against our country Sri Lanka. You can´t play fool with Lankan Lions.

Bob Rae had to get a visa becuase he was not coming as a tourist/visitor - only Canadian ´tourists/visitors´ don´t need visas. I don´t know why we have these senile types manning high office, when there are other effective and energetic types available, including career diplomats. Daya Perera was once a good lawyer, but everyone has a best before date, and clearly, he seems to be past his! Also, Canada recently barred the entry of George Galloway, a British MP, on the basis that he supporterd Hamas. This was only a couple of months ago. Also, Bob Rae in February said that SL is committing Genocide against Tamils and should be expelled from the Commnonwealth. Not sure why Rae or Daya Perera thought that SL should lay down the Red Carpet for Rae!!!!! Glen

Good job!Bob Ray you deserve this. This is a good lesson to others who stand against GOSL and support LTTE. Do not even think about coming to SL If you are one of this. Monica

Sri Lanka is now have taken courageous decisons since MR was elected President . Proud of the team that have taken this decison to kick these useless garbage out of the country . we do not need people who have down graded Sri Lanka to the international community . I have been campigning relentless for the introduction of a visa system, as we do need one very badly to prevent these rif rafs from entering Srl Lanka . All other countries even refuse legitimate application for holiday visa´s . Nothing is given ona plate even to visit countries like Australia the UK or the USA.without asking milliion of questions . How come Sri Lanka allows the foreign nationals to come without a valid visa ?

This is a job welldone. I agree with Upaligun. We need SL Government officials like Bandula Jayasekera here in Canada,to crush the pro- LTTE terrorist elements in Canada. President Rajapaksa should relinquish Daya Perera from his duties. He does not even have facts to talk and convince the Canadians when it comes to a debate on Sri Lankan issues.

yes, this is whats called Internal Administration, when a responsible Sovereign Government decides to control its borders for the greater good of the country and state... a one way ticket? imagine a Sri Lankan applying for a Canadian visa with one way ticket? oh no..my god no..you´ll not be able to cross the road to get to the visa section before you´re application is denied..

LTTE Supporters now can give him a warm welcome in canada air port!! what a pitty....what a shame... they should come to sri lanka with a face transplant.. how these dumbs even think to come to our motherland at all... we should ban everyone who support LTTE... and putting down sri lanka... so now what he going to talk about... that we torture him too... Hey Bob Rae., go and fly a kite near Niagara fall...

SL, unlike India, gives Visa on Arrival for Canadian passport holders. No need to apply for one before you depart for SL. His passport was probably stamped at BIA, and MI probably picked him up at baggage claim. Probably should have let him into the country to find out what the heck he was planning on doing in Lanka.

Following is copied from Bob Rae´s Web Site in which he gives his views about Sri Lanka Quote: Sri Lanka News - A Personal Perspective 5/19/2009 We are told that celebrations have broken out in the Sinhala community in Colombo. That is understandable, but it should be a celebration marked with sadness as well. The north of the country has been devastated - there will be no pictures on state controlled television of the dead and wounded, the villages destroyed. I can remember some years ago a senior government official expressing shock at the physical destruction in and around Jaffna when he paid a visit after the ceasefire. "I had no idea it was that bad". I expressed deep surprise that he didn´t know, the hospitals and schools destroyed, the homes wiped out, the sheer scale of the physical destruction. "The war is over", the crowds will shout. But there is a difference between a war ended by agreement and a war ended by death and destruction. If there is no magnanimity in victory there is no victory. I think of the possibilities of peace in the years after 2000 and I weep at the lost opportunity, the lost lives. So many dead now that were once alive, debating the possibilities of peace. I shall go back to the Vanni, because the effort must still be made. But it is hard not to cry at what has been lost, how much life has been destroyed. And what must still be done to bring justice to the peace that is being proclaimed so loudly.

Our nation is well named for hospitality and kindness, so we should treat him good and officers must look for the usual procedures, then that will make different from them and sense. Have a good day guys.

The previous LTTE political stooges who came here with all sorts of excuses must have been lavishly paid and taken around the bunkers!! Didn´t this fool know that all that is over? Did he expect Prabhakaran to meet him at the airport, take him to the airconditioned bunkers, and at the end of tour to get him the ticket back? Or, now the LTTE must be so bankrupt that they are unable to buy their stooges the two way ticket they need.

Bandu Dias

June 10, 2009  02:12 pm

I don´t think that he came to Colombo with a visa. They (Canadian, British, American, Austrailian citizens etc.)don´t need a pre-arranged visa to come to SL. Once they landed to BIA, the visa will be issued on arrival for a stay of up to 30 days (free of crarge) for touristic purposes unless they come to take an employment. I´m not sure these guys are falling to tourist catogery though but looks like lots of jerks coming to SL coz they don´t need pre-issued visas. I suggest that if SL government can introduce a new visa system to all of the foreigners who are willing to travel to SL, that would be appropriated. If they need to come to SL, get a visa FIRST. SL government will be able to earn some extra money as well if they charge some reasonable visa fees, rather than issuing them 30 days free visa.

Good work. Poor guy doesn´t have enough money to buy a return ticket. I think his pay has been deducted by LTTE after Prabhakaran´s death. May be he is coming to SL to ask some more money from the LTTE agents in SL including UNP. He shoud be thrown to lagoon, to have a nice bath.

In the first place, we should take action against the Sri Lankan officials in Canada Embassy for issuing this man a visa. I hear they tried to slyly arrange the trip under the guise of a visit by "Canadian Cabinet Minister", even through Bob Rae was only an opposition MP! A Lot of trouble would´ve been avoided if we weed out the corrupt pro-LTTE elements in our Canada office!

Embassies make such a fuss about the ticket when we go to get visa. The visa office says "no visa without seeing the return ticket". And the ticketing offices says "No tickets issued without visa". How come this joker got visa with a one-way ticket. Those who issued visa shd be brought to book.

I fully agree with Bandara. Our HC in Canada is a useless fellow. He must have shivered in his boots when he saw this Tiger´s application. Are they thinking that Sri Lanka is a land who can dance as they wanted? This is a good decision of GOSL. Sending this megalomaniac is a good signal to people who are willing to work or worked against this land. We no need any more traitors from other countries to make tarnish the good name of my country. We are seeing a government take decisions and working along with them. Showing door to these loggerheaded politicians will give them the feeling that this is not your back yard to do whatever you want. Find another place for your conspiracies. Mr. Rae why can’t you keep all your businesses within your territory? If you are so worried about LTTE (Not about Tamils) we can send all of them to your country.

Mr. Rea, Your friend Prabhakaran is no more in Sri Lanka, nor in the dream state of yours, Eelam. He is now serving his time in the Poo Pits of Hell. You may try him there. Please return and let Sri Lanka get on with it´s work to develop the lives of true Sri Lankan Tamils (not the LTTE stooges in your country). Sri Lankans have suffered enough for 30 years under the brutalities of your friend. You may go and name "Scabrough" in the name of your friend if you want.

Pat

June 12, 2009  02:31 pm

if you came here to see your friend prabakaran, you are mistaken. Why one way ticket??? No money to buy the return ticket after donating it to LTTE?? or you came here to look after prabakaran´s dreaming of eelam state? Remember, no more eealm here. This is Sri Lanka, a great nation.
