The bone fragments collected from the private medical college in Malabe in connection with the murder of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen will be sent for a DNA test, Ada Derana reporter says.

The order was issued when Court hearing into the murder of Thajudeen was taken up for hearing at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court following a request made by the Attorney General’s Department.

Accordingly, bone fragments including 19 femurs and 17 jawbones will be submitted to the Genetech Molecular Diagnostics in Colombo, the Court was informed.

Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprised the Court that the police investigation into the murder has disclosed that the missing body parts of the former Rugby player had allegedly been taken to the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) by its Vice Chancellor and former Colombo Chief JMO Prof. Ananda Samarasekara.

Meanwhile, former Senior DIG, Anura Senanayake, and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC, Sumith Perera, who were arrested in connection with the murder, were further remanded until October 19.
