National Freedom Front (NFF) leader MP Wimal Weerawansa today condemned with ‘disgust’ the mudslinging and insult directed at him by ‘political enemies’ based on the recent death of a youth at his residence even after the autopsy report has been released.

Lahiru Janith, 24, a close friend of Weerawansa’s son, was found dead at the Hokandara residence of the former minister on Wednesday.

Issuing a statement in response to the rumours being spread in social media regarding the incident, the UPFA MP said that according to the postmortem report, the youth died due to natural causes and that it was caused by a heart attack.

He said that the remains have been sent to the Government Analyst in order to determine what had caused the heart attack.

Weerawansa said that he regrets that his political opponents have fallen to such a low that they would attempt to use such an unfortunate incident for political gains.
