Five fishermen arrested for engaging in illegal fishing

The Navy has arrested 5 fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using explosives in the sea area off South Bar in Mannar.

Along with the fishermen, a dinghy, four unauthorized fishing nets, four pairs of diving fins, and 550 kg of fish were also taken into naval custody.

The apprehended persons, items and fish were handed over to Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for further action.
