Search op launched to locate 19 missing fishing boats

A complaint has been received regarding the disappearance of 19 fishing boats, Sri Lanka Navy says.

The boats had reportedly set off towards the eastern seas on a fishing expedition, after departing from the Kalavachchena coastal belt in Batticaloa.

According to sources from the SL Navy, the complaint had been received by the Eravur Police.

SL Navy spokesperson stated that Fast Attack Crafts have been deployed by the SL Navy to locate the missing fishing boats.

Reports reveal that one of the missing boats which had been swept away in the wrong direction was found in the afternoon, earlier today (24).
