Austin Fernando sworn in as Presidential Secretary

The President’s Media Division announced that Austin Fernando was sworn in as the new Secretary to the President today (04).

Austin Fernando was appointed as the new Secretary following the resignation of former Secretary P.B. Abeykoon.

Prior to the new appointment, Austin Fernando served as the Governor of the Eastern Province.

He has also served in the capacity of the Secretary of Defense.

President and President Maithripala Sirisena handed over the letter of appointment today (July 04) at the Presidential Secretariat.

Mr. Kapila Waidyarathne and Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake were appointed as the new Defense Secretary and the new Commander of Army respectively.   

Former Foreign Minister, Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama was sworn in as the Governor of Eastern Province before President Maithripala Sirisena, a position that became vacant due to the resignation of Mr. Austin Fernando.
