Leave of all CEB employees cancelled until Sept 20

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that the leave of all CEB employees had been cancelled from today (13) until September 20.

Meanwhile, the President of the ‘Lanka Viduli Podu Sevaka Sangamaya’ (LVPSS), Malaka Wickramasinghe stated that the CEB workers had taken the decision to go on strike, based on several demands.

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy said that the relevant sectors had been directed to consider the underlying demands of the strike. 

Issuing a notice, the Ministry added that steps had already been taken to solve issues pertaining to salary discrepancies and the internal audit division of the CEB.

According to the notice, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Labour Department will be working to address the rest of the demands as well.
