Body of one and a half year old child murdered by step father dug up in Mannar

The corpse of a one and a half year old child who was murdered, was uncovered by local authorities at Silawathura in Mannar. Initial investigations reveal that the death occurred due to an assault on the child by his step-father.  

Officials from the Mannar Police unit state that the body of a child aged 1 year and 9 months was dug up yesterday (27), in the presence of Magistrate A.G.Alexraja for the investigation of a murder. 

It has been confirmed that the child lost his life due to a brutal assault. The Police apprehended the step-father of the diseased who is believed to be the chief suspect in the investigation. 

A post-mortem will be conducted on the body on the instructions of the Mannar Magistrate’s court at the Mannar hospital.
