Reginald seeks advice from AG over Sarweswaran incident

Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray said that advice would be sought from the Attorney General’s Department with regard to the Northern Provincial Education Minister who refused to hoist the national flag.

The Governor pointed out that the decision given by the AG on the incident would be a precedent for other MPs and Ministers.

Northern Province Education Minister Dr. Kandiah Sarveswaran, who was the Chief Guest at a function, held at the Perakum Maha Vidyalaya in Irattaperiyakulam, Vavuniya on November 16, 2017 is alleged to have refused to hoist the national flag.  

Speaking at a media briefing held today (21) the Governor said that the matter would be addressed as per the decision given by the Attorney General.

He said this at a news briefing held today to announce the stance of the NPC in connection with this incident.
