More nomination lists of Podujana Peramuna rejected

The nomination lists of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for four more Local Government bodies have been rejected, according to Returning Officers.
The party’s nomination lists for the Panadura Urban Council, Badulla Pradeshiya Sabha, Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha and Agalawatta Pradeshiya Sabha have been rejected.
Badulla District Returning Officer Nimal Abeysiri stated that 42 political parties and 9 independent groups had handed over nominations for the 11 local government institutions in the Badulla District.
Meanwhile the nomination list of an independent group for the Mahiyanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha has also been rejected.
It was previously confirmed that the party’s nomination lists for the Weligama and Maharagama Urban Councils have been rejected.
The Joint Opposition led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is contesting the upcoming election as the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, under the “flower bud” symbol.
