British Rugby player visiting Sri Lanka dies in hospital

A British Rugby player aged 26, visiting Sri Lanka has died in hospital with respiratory difficulty, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.

Meanwhile, another player who was hospitalized along with the victim is in critical condition, according to hospital sources.

A team of 22 players have arrived in Sri Lanka last Thursday (May 10) to take part in an exhibition match series which was held from May 12 at a                                          Stadium in Colombo.

Afterwards the team of players has attended a dinner at the same venue.

Several players including the victim have gone to a nightclub in Colpetty returning back to the hotel after dinner.

However, two players have been hospitalized due to breathing difficulties, after they returned to the hotel, the following morning at around 4 am, according to police.

The two players have been rushed to a private hospital in Colombo last afternoon (13) by the hotel authorities.

However,one of the players has died while receiving treatments.

The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Harvard Thomas Andrew.
