Anarkalli to take Bentara-Elpitiya by storm?

Popular actress and TV presenter Anarkalli Akarsha has been given the Presidential nod to contest the Bentara-Elpitiya polling division at the upcoming Southern Provincial Council polls, reveal sources close to her.
Though many were under the impression that she would be supportive of Mangala Samaraweera’s Ape Jathika Peramuna, the sources say that the President has agreed to let her contest under the UPFA banner.
Anarkalli Akarsha was Mr. Samaraweera´s Coordinating Secretary during his days as Minister in the UPFA government.

This is a very wrong decision. President must create a better political environment, which has been ruined by the unwanted & unsuitable characters, notably since 1977. Although the president won the war and brought lot of changes to the country, he must not help spoil the political environment in this country by bringing this kind of unsuitable characters in to politics. President could win the war , bring all the good changes not just because his own vision but due to the firm and correct guidance of the real patriotic elements of this country. We know that patriotic elements as well as many destructive / dangerous elements are also engaged within this government.The president must have the proper analytical ability to see what are the progressive decisions and what are the destructive decisions. One day, this decision will naturally turn against the popularity of the government and president himself. May be Anarkali has been approached by the UNP-Mangala-Chandrika alliance and hence UPFA was forced to make an early move. But still, the UPFA shouldn´t have brought this unsuitable character in to politics, instead the UPFA could have invented other ways to keep Anarkalee out of politics. There are many ways for that. Mr.President, still it is not too late, please do not bring this kind of unsuitable characters in to politics, kindly correct this self destructive doomed decision.

MR will give green signal to any body who can win the party, basis of popularity in any means. Also there must be another idea behind to take this type of female for politics.

I fully agree with Priyantha. Mahinada did not win the war of his own alone. There other things of him we cannot approve, but forgave because he stood with back bone with the west. But surely we cannot agree with this decision. Anarkali may be good as a actress, but she is not matured to rule the country. Even if this stupid decision is correct we as public cannot do anything. That is why this country is in this state.

no one is perfect. if she really likes to get in to politics then she has to start from somewhere. it might be a hard learning process for her. but if she sees it through to the end without much problems then we will have another Rosy Senanayaka in a few years time. All the best!

It is okay for this kind of characters to become politicians, if this country is very well developed and no many problems to solve. In such a case, having Anarkalee or somebopdyelse like that is not an issue. But our country is not developed and there are many problems to solve and we need lot of educated and talented politicians and not the type of Anarkalee at this moment. Ask her to wait for another 10 years and then try politics.

People will choose whether we need her or not as a politician. that´s why there is a preferential voting system. people have the choice to select whom to elect even within a single political party. If there is anything wrong with her morals or if she is corrupted then it is o.k to criticize her. Nobody has a right to say she does not suite politics simply because she is a cheerful and young actress. Let the people decide whether she suits politics or not, but if there is nothing rational to say why she should not become a politician, please hold your tong. I think more than her popularity, her personality is why she qualifies to be politician. the way she handled Dumind is the best evidence that she is up for politics

Why we should be so worried whether President made a right or wrong decision. He must have got a liking to her acting above other actors around him. Let the people decide by which can judge their mentality too. Whether she is elected by the people or not President will get her a Good Place, you all just wait and see please.!!!

If people can live a decent life not luxurious one they will not leave their home. It´s an intellectual waste basket where political thugs are kings. Can´t hold an election without foreign monitors.
