Thundershowers to be expected in evening

Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva and Eastern provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Rathnapura, Mullaitivu and Vauniya districts after 02.00 pm.
A few showers may occur in Galle and Matara districts, says Meteorological Department.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
SEA AREAS
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the southern sea areas of the island.
Winds will be south-westerly in direction in the sea area around the island. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph.
The sea area extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 40-50 kmph.
The wind speed can increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea area extending from Mannar to Kankasantura
