Temple Trees tense due to unannounced visitors

A tense situation had reportedly prevailed this afternoon when two individuals claiming to be from “Mahinda Rajapaksa’s office” had allegedly entered Ranil Wickremesinghe’s office at Temple Trees in Colombo.

A statement issued by Wickremesinghe’s Media Unit claimed that two individual claiming to be from “former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Office” had entered Temple Trees and checked certain equipment at the office and attempted to take them away, resulting in the tense situation involving those present.

Upon being informed of the incident, the security personnel at Temple Trees had intervened immediately to control the situation, the statement said.

It had been uncovered during the inquiry carried out by the security personnel that the two individuals in question had entered Temple Trees without even proving their identities or notifying the security units.

The statement also claims that the two individuals have told security personnel that they are from Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Office and that they had been instructed to obtain data on the equipment at the former Prime Minister’s Office in Temple Trees.

Afterwards the security personnel at Temple Trees had taken steps to check the identities of the two individuals and safely escort them out of the Temple Trees premises, the statement issued by Wickremesinghe media unit said.
