Kanjipani Imran’s father stabbed in Maligawatta

An individual has been injured in a stabbing incident at Maligawatta area, stated Police Media Spokesman.

The victim has been identified as the father of the notorious drug racketeer  ‘Kanjipani Imran’ who is currently under remand custody.

Reportedly, three individuals, who had arrived in a three-wheeler, had attacked the victim using sharp weapons, near his house in Maligawatta at around 6.30 pm this evening (17).

The 65-year-old, who sustained several cut wounds, is currently receiving treatment at the Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) of the Colombo National hospital. His condition is not critical, according to hospital sources.

One of the three suspects has been apprehended by the Maligawatta Police along with the three-wheeler they used for the crime.

The arrested suspect is a resident of Anuradhapura, the Police said.

The victim had been under remand custody in 2019 over an attempt to smuggle in 2 mobile phones to an imprisoned ‘Kanjipani Imran’ by concealing them among food containers.
