Kalutara PS opposition leader arrested

The Opposition Leader of the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha S.A.D. Nilantha and another individual have been arrested by Kalutara South Police.

They have reportedly been arrested in connection with an incident of breaking the locks and forcibly entering the Vernon Fernando Sports Complex in Kalutara.

The arrests were made following investigations carried out based on a complaint lodged by the manager of the stadium.

Ada Derana reporter said that around 12 individuals including the the UNP local politician had broken the locks and forcibly entered the sports complex on June 23.

Police said that the arrested suspects will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court today on charges of violating quarantine laws, illegal assembly and damaging property.  

Kalutara South Police are conducting further investigations.
