Advisory for strong gusty winds

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for strong winds in several provinces in the country. 

Strong gusty winds about 50-60 kmph can be expected across the island, particularly in the Northern, North-central, Southern, North-western provinces and Trincomalee district and in the western slopes of the central hills, it said.

Meanwhile showers are expected to occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy rainfalls about 75mm are likely at some places in Nuwara-eliya, Kandy, Rathnapura, Kegalle, Galle and Matara districts.

A few showers may occur in Northern province and Anuradhapura district.
