The Office of the Prime Minister says a false report is being circulated that one of its security staff members has tested positive for Covid-19.

Dismissing the claims in a press release published today (25), the PM’s Office said, “It is with complete responsibility that we confirm this news to be false, no internal security member from the Prime Minister’s Office, Temple Trees or the Wijerama Residence has tested positive.”

It is in fact a member of the external unit of the Prime Minister’s advanced security division that has been diagnosed positive with COVID-19, the PM’s Office stressed.

The respective individual has not reported to work since the 17th of October, 2020, the statement read further.

“We request all Sri Lankan citizens to remain cautious, and vigilant during these challenging times and not fall victim to any such false news.”
