April 27, 2010   11:33 am

The petition filed at the Court of Appeal seeking to bring the missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda to court will be heart on May 10. The petition which was filed by the journalist’s wife Sandya Ekanligoda cited the IGP, DIG in charge of the CID, Homagama and Koswatte OICs as the respondents.

However when the petition was brought to the Appeal Court Judge Ranjith Silva he queried the petitioner since Eknaligoda was not arrested by law enforcement authorities unto whom he should give the direction to bring the journalist to court. To this the lawyers representing the petitioner said that since it is the duty of the police to ensure the safety of the citizens, the police should be given the direction.

Prageeth Eknaligoda, who was last seen on January 24, went missing on his way home from work on the same date.
