Tear gas fired at protesting students near Diyatha Uyana

Severe traffic congestion is reported from Borella to Battaramulla due to a protest march, says Ada Derana correspondent.

The demonstration is organized by the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF). It kicked off from Kelaniya and proceeded towards the Parliament Complex.

However, the police barricaded the parliamentary entry road.

Meanwhile, one female protester was seen offering a flower to the police officers at the scene.

The police later fired tear gas at the protesting students at the Polduwa Junction near Diyatha Uyana in Battaramulla.
