VIDEO: A day to pay tribute, not to divide, says Sajith

This is a day where all should shed their differences and pay tribute to those who defended our country, said United National Party (UNP) Hambantota District Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa at the Victory Day celebrations this morning.

There should not be differences on the lines of SLFP, UNP, JVP or any other party. This is a day where we pay tribute as one nation by joining hands. It is the duty of all, whether the government or the opposition, to see to the future wellbeing of those who fought on behalf of our country, added Mr. Premadasa.

Whether asked if he represented the UNP leader, since Ranil Wickremesinghe was conspicuous with his absence, Sajith Premadasa said that he came as a representative of the people.

“Just because I came here, I will not get the party leader’s position by post. A leader has to formulate programmes for the welfare of the masses. And the masses should have faith on such programmes,” the Hambantota MP added.

Sajith Premadasa added that he was not aware whether all UNP members had been invited. “Those who received invitations have come,” he said.
