Sepal Amarasinghe, the YouTuber who was recently arrested over his defamatory comments about the much-venerated Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, has been further remanded.

When Amarasinghe was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis this morning (Jan. 31), he was ordered to continue to keep him in remand custody until February 14.

Attorney-at-Law Darshana Kuruppu, representing the accused, told the court that his client is ready to make a public apology for his statements.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), making a request from the chief magistrate, sought a court order referring Amarasinghe to the Government Analyst’s Department to obtain his voice samples.

Accordingly, the chief magistrate ordered that the suspect be produced before the Government Analyst on February 02.
