* Targets 25% market share in the fast growing Dual sim market by the year end

Colombo, July, 2010: Leading mobile phone provider, Samsung Electronics strengthened its mobile offering in the fast growing Sri Lankan market by launching two new Dual Sim phones – C3212 and C5212.

The Dual Sim phone category is a new category that the Company is getting into in the Sri Lankan market having already launched its touch screen range in the country, including the hugely popular Corby series, as well as its Essential series of phones just a couple of months ago.

“Consumers are showing a growing preference for Dual SIM phones. We are working at catering to this growing consumer need by introducing new differentiated Dual SIM handsets that come with the unique Samsung advantage of Dual Active mode”, states K. Shankar Narayanan, Country Manager – Samsung Sri Lanka. The Dual Active Mode implies that both the sims are active all the times.

For example, if a user is talking to someone on SIM 1 and gets a call on SIM 2, then he/she will be able to see the person who is calling and can accept the call on SIM 2.

Apart from the convenience of Dual Standby, the Samsung C5212 serves as a personal multimedia hub with its 1.3 MP camera and 56MB internal memory, expandable up to 8GB, Multi Format Player and Stereo FM Radio with recording. The Samsung C3212 comes with a 13 hours talk time, Multiformat MP3 player; Stereo FM, a VGA Camera and Video Recorder and Bluetooth 2.0 to share everything.

Both phones come with a one year warranty for the handset and six months for the accessories. While the C5212 is priced at Rs 13,900, the C3212i is priced at Rs.11,500.

Samsung Mobiles are available at 500 + Dealer points across all the nine provinces of the Island. The Company through its National Distribution Partner (JKOA) recently appointed seven re-distributors to manage its expanding sales network in the country.

Samsung has appointed ‘The Phone Company’ as the National Service Franchisee for Sri Lanka. The Company has set up six new Service centers in Colombo, Galle, Kandy and Trincomalle and will be very shortly setting up service centers in Ratnapura, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa which will extend service to the entire North Eastern part of the country.

“We plan to create excitement in the Sri Lankan market by launching exciting, innovative products in the market .Beyond our Dual Sim phones, we also plan to launch our smart phones – Samsung WAVE and Galaxy S - in this market very soon,” states Mr. Shankar. The Company is targeting a 25% market share in the Sri Lanka market by the end of the year.
