Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says they have decided to bring a motion of no-confidence against Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella.

The SJB leader made these remarks while speaking in Parliament this morning (18 July).

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had unanimously decided that they would bring forth the motion against the Health Minister, during a party meeting held on Monday evening (17 July).

Meanwhile, a Satyagraha was staged in front of the Health Ministry’s premises this morning, demanding the resignation of Rambukwella and other senior officials of the health ministry over the issue of importing allegedly ‘substandard’ medicines.

However, speaking during TV Derana’s ‘360°’ programme last night, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella assured that he will not step down from his position solely due to the demands of a few people.

He further assured that he does not intend to trivialize the matter at hand, and is instead ‘ready to face those who are trying to attack the free healthcare system’.
