Five suspects nabbed with over 200kg of heroin in high seas

A stock of 200 kilograms of heroin has been seized in the high seas during a joint operation by the Sri Lanka Navy and Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).

The drug haul, which is estimated to be valued at around Rs.4,000 million has been recovered during an inspection carried out by the officials attached to PNB, Sri Lanka Navy Intelligence Unit and the Department of Coast Guard after bringing ashore a Sri Lankan trawler apprehended in the seas off Dondra Point this morning (22).  

The officers have also arrested 05 suspects who were onboard the trawler along with the haul of drugs.

Further investigations in this regard are carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau together with the Sri Lanka Navy.
