New cricket selection committee headed by Upul Tharanga to be appointed

Sports Minister Harin Fernando says that a decision has been taken to appoint a new Selection Committee for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

Speaking in Parliament today (04), the minister said that the new Cricket Selection Committee will be chaired by former Sri Lankan cricketer Upul Tharanga.

However, Fernando did not elaborate on the other members of the committee and when the new selection committee will exactly be appointed. 

Ex-cricketer Pramodya Wickramasinghe serves as chairman of the existing Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, which was appointed in April 2021 by then Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.

The committee members currently include Romesh Kaluwitharana, Hemantha Wickramaratne, Varuna Waragoda, S. H. U Karnain and B.A. Thilaka Nilmini Gunarathne.
