The officers of the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs have seized a variety of narcotics including a stock of dangerous drugs and ‘Kush’ cannabis, contained inside seven parcels sent to Sri Lanka from foreign countries, at the premises of a private logistics company in Seeduwa this evening (07).

The packages have been sent from the United States, Canada and several European countries including France to different addresses in Colombo. However, the officials have confirmed following investigations that the addresses mentioned in the parcels were fake and had proceeded to open the relevant suspicious parcels for inspection.

Upon inspection, the officials have discovered nearly 08 kilograms of ‘Kush’ cannabis, 160 grams of a drug identified as ‘Mandy’ - also known as MDMA, 350 ecstasy pills and 08 grams of ‘Ice’ drugs (Crystal Methamphetamine).

The seized drugs, with an estimated total street value of Rs. 60 million, will be handed over to Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for onward legal proceedings, the Sri Lanka Customs said.
