Fairly heavy showers expected in parts of the island

The Department of Meteorology says showers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Hambantota District.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 50-60 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Batticaloa via Puttalam, Mannar, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Batticaloa via Puttalam, Mannar, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
