Thundershowers and gusty winds expected today

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Hambantota districts.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely in some places.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern Province and Anuradhapura and Kandy districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere of the island after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times in the Eastern slopes of the Central hills and in Northern, North-Central, North-western, Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the morning in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces.
The members of the public are advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa, Pottuvil and Hambantota. Showers or thundershowers may occur in other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph.
Wind speed may increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankesanturai via Puttalam and Mannar and from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota.
The wind speed may increase up to 40-50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanturai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankesanturai via Puttalam and Mannar and also from Pottuvil to Galle via Hambantota will be rough at times. The sea areas off the coast extending Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa will be fairly rough at times.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
