SJB’s Chaminda Wijesiri announces resignation as MP

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Badulla Districts MP Chaminda Wijesiri has submitted his letter of resignation to the Speaker of Parliament.

The Parliamentarian revealed this while speaking during the first parliamentary sitting of 2024, which commenced at 09:30 a.m. today (09 Jan.). 

Meanwhile, all SJB MPs, including Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, were seen clad in black during this morning’s parliamentary session, reportedly in protest of the government’s move to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 18%.
