The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says it intends to hand over the proposal seeking electricity tariffs reduction to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) today (Jan.12).

Media spokesperson of the state-owned electricity supplier, Eng. Noel Priyantha said all necessary arrangements have already been made.

“We are working on providing maximum possible relief to the public by way of electricity tariffs,” he said emphasizing that low-income people will definitely receive these benefits.

The CEB spokesperson said a tariff reduction is possible as Sri Lanka received substantial rainfall over the past few months, especially in the months of November and December.
