Afternoon thundershowers possible in 4 provinces today

Showers will occur at times in Eastern and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa and Matale districts, the Department of Meteorology said in its weather forecast today (Jan.20).
Several spells of showers may occur in Northern Province and Anuradhapura District.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are possible in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are expected in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
The members of the public are urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
