12 Sri Lankan Tamils living in Germany have been critically injured when their Van collided with a truck at the Ehningen junction in the Böblingen District today morning. Rescue workers are reported to have taken over four hours to salvage the injured people who are said to be from the same family.
The 12 Sri Lankans who were traveling in a Mercedes ‘Sprint’ Van had been returning home after visiting a friend’s residence in Berlin when they had crashed into a Mercedes Truck. However it is reported that the driver of the Van, in which the Lankan family was traveling in, had escaped unharmed from the collision.
Even though several fire trucks, Ambulance Vans and even a Helicopter were called forth to help in the rescue efforts over 4 hours had passed before the injured individuals were successfully freed.
