Contraband items seized from 2 cells at Boossa high-security prison

Several contraband items have been found inside two cells at the Boossa high-security prison, in which two criminal gang members were kept incarcerated.

During an unanticipated search operation conducted at the facility on Wednesday (Feb.21), the Police Special Task Force (STF) officers had discovered 4 mobile phones, one SIM card, a notebook containing telephone numbers and several mobile phone accessories.

According to reports, these items were found from the possession of a drug trafficker alias “Rewul Kumara and the brother of the infamous criminal gang leader “Kosgoda Tharaka”.

The seized contraband has been handed over to the office of the STF Commandant for onward investigations.
