Parliamentary session suspended until 4.30pm

Parliamentary proceedings have been postponed until 4.30 p.m. today (02) by Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse.

The decision was taken due to the absence of the parliamentarians from both government and opposition sides, who were scheduled to speak during today’s debate.

Among the absentees from the opposition were Dr. Harsha de Silva, M. A. Sumanthiran, Vijitha Herath, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Niroshan Perera, S. M. Marikkar, Prof. Charitha Herath, Gamini Waleboda, Nalaka Godahewa, Thushara Indunil Amarasena, Velu Kumar, Udaya Kumara, Charles Nirmalanathan, Selvarajah Kajendren, and Weerasumana Weerasinghe.

From the government’s side, Prof. Ranjith Bandara, Suren Raghavan, S. M. M. Muszhaaraff, Bandula Gunawardena, Vadivel Suresh and Shehan Semasinghe were absent in the Chamber.
