Earthquake of 6 magnitude strikes off east coast of Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 6 struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan on Thursday (April 4), the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The quake was at a depth of 32 km (19.88 miles), EMSC said.

No immediate reports of damage or injuries after the earthquake were reported, the epicentre had a depth of 40 kilometres (25 miles) and was also felt in Tokyo.

It comes a day after at least nine people were killed and more than 1,000 injured by a powerful earthquake in Taiwan. The most massive earthquake to have shaken Taiwan in 25 years on Wednesday (April 3).

Two Indian nationals were reported to be missing by various Indian media outlets.

As per Indian media reports, a search operation was underway to find the missing Indians. Several thousand Indians, which includes 3,000 students, have been living in Taiwan.
