Cabinet approves amended Electricity Sector Reforms Bill

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the amended version of the electricity sector reforms bill today (08). 

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said that accordingly, approval was granted to gazette the amended version of the new electricity sector bill and to present it to the Parliament for approval. 

Posting on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Wijesekara said the bill will be gazetted this week to be presented to the Parliament in the last week of April. 

Meanwhile, the public will have 02 weeks from the day it’s presented to the Parliament to challenge the bill, according to the Minister.
