The proposed electricity sector reforms have been published in the government gazette on Wednesday (17), as the ‘Sri Lanka Electricity Bill’.

Posting on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said that accordingly the Bill will be presented to the Parliament in the next sitting week.

Meanwhile, the amendments suggested by the stakeholders in January have been drafted in to the revised Bill, according to the minister.

Wijesekara also mentioned that the public will have two weeks from the day of presenting the Bill to the Parliament to challenge its legality in the Supreme Court.
