The Ministry of Education has requested the university non-academic staff trade unions to withdraw from their ongoing strike action.

In a statement issued, the Ministry of Education urges university non-academic staff to report back to their respective duties after withdrawing from the ongoing strike action.

The statement further stated that solutions would be provided to the demands of the trade unions as per the Cabinet decision taken in its meeting held on May 27, 2024.

The ministry further mentioned that it has been decided to appoint a committee headed by the Secretary to the Treasury to look into the wage disparities of non-academic staff which have existed since 2018 and other related salary disparities, and make recommendations and report to the cabinet before the next Budget proposal is prepared.
