Prevailing rainy condition expected enhance in next few days

The Department of Meteorology states that the prevailing rainy condition in the south-western part of the island is expected to enhance to some extent in the next few days from tomorrow (08).

In its latest foecast, the Meteorology Department mentioned that showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. 

Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Several spells of showers will occur in North-western, Northern and North-central provinces, it added.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night, according to the Met. Department.

Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, North western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
