New Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army appointed

Major General Rohitha Aluvihare of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, effective from 20 June 2024, by the Commander of the Army.
Major General S. R. B. Aluvihare of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment had previously served as the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) before being appointed as the General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Pallekele.
He had also served as Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, Colonel of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and as the 18th Commander of Security Force (Central).
